looking for a creative way to raise sponsorship funds for your podcast?
Do you produce your own podcast? Frustrated that only the really-well known broadcasters, influencers and other so-called celebrities are able to attract sponsorship?
Well, sponsorbid might just be the way forward.
sponsorbid is a new, proof-of-concept platform that will allow podcasters to offer small businesses the opportunity to sponsor one or two episodes in a podcast series, at a price that suits the small business and provides some financial support for you.
At this stage, sponsorbid is testing the waters to see if the concept works. Therefore at the moment, the process is still a bit clunky and manual but here's how it works.
- The podcaster sets up a project on sponsorbid which includes the minimum bid per episode (e.g. $100) and a brief statement of what the sponsor will receive in return for their support.
- The podcaster promotes the sponsorbid project via their own social media channels, email list, etc, inviting potential sponosrs to submit a sponsorbid for their podcast.
- As the bids are received, the sponsorbids are sorted by amount and by date received. At the end of the project campaign, you will have a list of potential sponsors to approach for their agreed support.
If you are over-subscribed (i.e. more bids than episodes, for example), you can select the highest bidders and, where bids for the same amount are received, on a "first-come, first served" basis.
how is this different to the kickstarters and gofundmes of the world?
This is different is a few ways:
- You won't lose 5% or 7% (or sometimes even more) in processing fees. We'll charge you a small set-up fee and then, when you invoicie your sponsors, you get all of the money.
- You are not setting fixed prices for each level of reward. Sure, you are setting a minimum sponsorbid amount but after that, the market will pay what they think it is worth to them.
- You won't get 50,000 spam emails from a whole range of random people offering to help you "maximise the returns" or "find a bigger audience", etc as you generally do with these global platforms.
- This platform is operated by a small business in regional Australia to help support podcasters and to provide a sponsorship opportunity for small businesses across the country.
how do I get started?
As we mentioned above, we are still in the testing phase. There is no auto-setup or anything like that.
Just send us a note from our Contact page and we'll be in touch to discuss how we go about getting you set up on sponsorbid.
